Note: Ever since I heard "Summertime Rolls" by Jane's Addiction played at the highest treble setting on my roomates boombox one balmy summer in Terre Haute, Indiana, I've felt attached to this song with the strength of nostalgia. The other day I went on-line and checked the lyrics I've been singing (as I have been hearing them) against the actual lyrics written. Below is a link to the two versions and an mp3 of the song.
Summertime Rolls (Aharon's Lyrics): ------------------ Fell into a sea of grass and disappeared among the shady blades Children all ring on their knee screaming tales and you bar the wine He trips her ass Her signal fails She says "Stop! I'm a girl whose fingernails are made of her mother's bread Yellow buttercup Helicopters I'm just but a guy chasing after that crazy feeling about somebody, uh oh no! Me and my girlfriend don't wear no shoes Her nose is painted pepper sunlight She loves me, I mean it's serious, as serious can be Well, she sings a song and I listen to what it says: "Well if you want a friend be it any animal uhoh!" There's so much space I cut me a piece with some fine wine It brought peace to my mind in the summertime And he rolls summer uhuhho uhuhho summertime rolls .... summer uhuhho uhuhho summertime rolls Me and my girlfriend don't wear no clothes You know her nose is pepper sunlight She... I love her, I mean it's serious as serious can be |
Summertime Rolls (Official Lyrics): ------------------ Fell into A sea of grass And disappeared among The shady blades... Children all Ran over me Screaming tag! You are the one! He trips her as Her sandals fail She says stop! I'm a girl... Whose fingernails are made Of mother's pearl... Yellow buttercup Helicopters Orange buttercat Chasing after The crazy bee Mad about somebody... Me and my girlfriend Don't wear no shoes Her nose is painted pepper Sunlight... She loves me I mean it's serious As serious can be... She sings a song and I listen to what it says: If you want a friend Feed any animal... There was so much space I cut me a piece With some fine wine It brought peace to my mind In the summertime... And it rolled Summer.... oh... Oh.... the summertime rolls |
